Meeting scheduled about homeless shelter
A public information meeting about a planned new homeless shelter in Columbus will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the site for the shelter, 421 S. Mapleton St.
Columbus Township Trustee Ben Jackson and Love Chapel representatives are hosting the session to discuss plans for the Brighter Days Housing, which would be a 35-bed facility near Love Chapel. Nearby residents and business owners are especially encouraged to attend.
The township and Love Chapel are partnering to renovate a vacant former township fire department maintenance facility into the shelter.
The project has received a zoning variance for a shared-housing facility in the mixed-use commercial and industrial neighborhood.
