Ramon Utterback

Ramon Leon Utterback, age 79, of Nashville, died Saturday evening, January 2, 2016, at his residence. Born November 8, 1936, on the family farm in Montgomery County, Indiana, he was the son of Charles M. and Vera M. (Watson) Utterback.

He started his career as a lineman for Indiana Bell Telephone in 1956 and retired in 1991 as a construction supervisor for Indiana Bell, working out of the Zionsville Garage until 1982 and then out of the Columbus Garage until his retirement. He later worked as a construction supervisor for Musgraves Underground Utilities of Shelbyville and then as a tri-axle truck driver for Central Indiana Contracting of Columbus and R.W. Perry of Rosstown. He was a member of Crawfordsville Masonic Lodge, Indianapolis Scottish Rite and the American Legion in Columbus. He was a former member of Columbus Moose Lodge and the Elks Lodge and Eagles Lodge in Crawfordsville.

He is survived by his loving family including his wife, Patricia (Keller) Utterback, of Nashville; one son, Kerry (Jennifer) Utterback of Columbus; two stepsons, Mark (Sue) Wood of Zionsville and Jeff Wood of Sturgis, South Dakota; one daughter, Marla Suzanne Palermo of Charlottesville, Virginia; one sister, Beverly McCullum of Crawfordsville; 11 grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.

Ramon was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Michael Utterback, formerly of Waynetown.

Graveside funeral services were to be held at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday at Lincoln Memory Gardens in Whitestown, Indiana, with the Rev. Bill Williams officiating, followed by entombment.

Arrangements were made by Bond-Mitchell Funeral Home in Nashville.

The family suggests memorial contributions be given to Hospice of South Central Indiana.
