Keller scholarship available

The William Keller Scholarship is available for students who are current or past residents of Bartholomew County. The student must be attending 12th grade in a Bartholomew County high school or have graduated from a Bartholomew County high school and must be pursuing education in medical, nursing, scientific, engineering or technical fields. Interested applicants should contact Scott Johann for an application at [email protected] or 312-732-2305.Student accepted to programBen Verbanic, a Columbus North High School senior, has been accepted into the Media Fellows Program at DePauw University in Greencastle.Media Fellows are part of the university’s highly selective honors program — they augment their chosen majors with exposure to concepts, speakers, criticism and experiences across various media.

A semester-long internship combines the student’s major interest with a media industry leader is a hallmark of the program. Recent Media Fellows have worked at The Today Show, C-Span and the White House.

Media Fellows are chosen on the basis of a student’s academic profile and program application, which includes an essay and interview.

Andrie to attend Naval Academy

Nicholas Andrie, a Columbus East High School senior, has been accepted into the U.S. Naval Academy.Sen. Dan Coats nominated Andrie for the academy.Andrie is a member the East High School varsity football and baseball teams, and is president of the school’s National Honor Society.
