Corban Pollitt, Columbus East sophomore wrestler

Pollitt went 3-0 to win the 132-pound division and help lead the Olympians to a runner-up team finish in Saturday’s Hoosier Hills Conference meet. He also won by technical fall in East’s dual meet victory at Columbus North.

His performance last week:

“I feel like I did pretty good. I just need to work on taking my shots and finishing.”

Do you do anything special to prepare?

FEMALE

Alex Nusawardhana, Columbus North junior swimmer

Nusawardhana won the 100-yard backstroke, finished third in the 100 butterfly and swam on North’s winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams in Saturday’s Conference Indiana meet. She also won the 50 freestyle and 100 breaststroke in a dual meet loss to Franklin Central.

Her performance last week:

“At the conference meet, I was just really focusing on trying to beat my times from last year, and I did that in all of my events. For the fact that we haven’t been fully rested, and to see myself go that fast feels really good.”

Do you do anything special to prepare?

“Before our championship season meets, we like to have a team dinner, usually with a lot of pasta. I really like to get a good night’s sleep.”

“Chocolate milk or water”

“Pizza”

Favorite musician:

“21 Pilots”

Favorite book:

“The Hunger Games series.”

Favorite class:

“Anything science”

Role model:

“My (former) coach, Jim Sheridan”

Best advice:

“Ignore anyone who is not on your side and whenever something like that comes around, just focus on yourself. There are people who are going to be jealous of you. There are going to be people who are not going to like you, but as long as you believe in yourself, that’s all that matters.”

Athletics goal:

“To perform the best that I can and see what comes my way. I don’t really like setting a specific goal because I see it as a limit, so I just tell myself to go out there and do anything I do to the best of my ability.”

If you could travel anywhere:

“I would like to go back to California because I was born there, but I was only there until I was 1, so I don’t really know anything about it.”
