• the new city administration for its good early efforts building relationships throughout the community.

• the staff at Shorty’s Restaurant for awesome service and friendliness.

• my sister-in-law, Terry Murphy, and my friend, Brenda Wells, for the wonderful food and plant they brought me during my recuperation, from Juanita Johns.

• my daughters-in-law, Christa and Lauren Johns, for the food and company as they brought me much joy, from Juanita Johns.

• Sam Simmermaker at White River Broadcasting for his awesome coverage of local sports.

• Flintwood Wesleyan Church for the beautiful prayer blanket, visitors and prayers while I was in the hospital, from Juanita Johns.

• Deputy Matthew Miller for protecting and serving our community and for his act of bravery in Greenwood.

• the assistant athletics director at Columbus East High School, Tyler Davis, for always being at the sporting events, having a smile on his face and being personable as this is what his job is all about.

• Dawn, Jaimie, the two Allysas, Maggie and Chelsea at Columbus Regional Hospital 5 Tower for their exceptional care, and Dr. Tannenbaum for doing an outstanding job on my unexpected surgery, from Juanita Johns.

• Kristen Brown for being there for the residents of Columbus.

• Raylene Guthrie and Rilee for doing such an awesome job with the Southside Cheer Team as you girls are awesome, from Erica and Linda Robinson.

• Caleb Tennis for fighting cronyism and putting service to community before self, from Bob Sullivan.

• Angie, Jessica and Joshua for the beautiful flowers and their visit while I was in the hospital, from Juanita.

• the company that let a good, dependable and flexible worker go after hiring him for a job they knew would not last but still did not tell the employee that it was temporary.

• the person in the white SUV on County Road 500N on Monday morning for tailgating and then blasting me with your bright headlights and passing me when I tapped my brakes hoping you would back off.

• The Republic for twice rewording my Orchid and changing the meaning completely.

• the cable company that removes channels previously paid for in a contract.

• the disgraceful pictures in the obituaries being cropped and blurry of our loved ones.

• the guy in the red car at Windrose Health Network in Edinburgh for talking so mean to an older woman.

• gas stations that raise prices 30 cents per gallon overnight when the price of a barrel is cheaper than it ever has been.

• anyone who does not think Donald Trump could be a good president.

• the delivery driver who came to my house with disgusting hickeys on his neck.

• the person who is still complaining about the State Road 31 construction when it has not even started, yet when it is finished it will be much better in handling traffic and big projects take a lot of time.

• local government board that picked the engineering consulting firm that oversaw the roundabout.

• The Republic for all the changes to the obituaries, both on the front page and the obituary page as they seem to be all wrong.

• anyone who thinks Hillary Clinton would be a good president.
