‘Dirty Rotten Scoundrels’ to take stage at East

Columbus East High School Theatre students will present “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, The Musical” at 7 p.m. Feb. 26 and 27 and 2:30 p.m. Feb. 28 at East’s Robbins Auditorium.Based on the 1988 film, “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels,” the musical follows two con men as they work to win a $50,000 bet. The bet decides who gets to stay in town and who has to leave. Their target, heiress Christine Colgate, becomes a challenge to the two.Tickets are available for a suggested donation of $8.

The cast includes Luke Major, Tanner Stevens, Delaney Jackson, Zack Patchett, Sarah Harpring and Natalie Ryan. It is directed by the new auditorium director Kevin Welsh.

North in third place at math competition

Columbus North High School is in third place after completing four of the six rounds of the Indiana Mathematics League statewide competition.Contest leader is Harrison High School, West Lafayette with 113 points, and Penn High School, Mishawaka is in second with 110 points. North has 108 points.Ken Guan, junior, and Tyler Heathcote, senior, are tied for third place in the state as individuals. Among the state’s top 30 scores are seniors Kevin Luo and Ahaan Singhal, freshman Denver Shepherd and eighth grader Vivek Hebbar.

More than 340 North students have participated in Indiana Math League this year. Other area schools making the list of high scoring teams are Columbus East in 15th place and Seymour in 26th place.
