Shots fired inside home during family argument

Columbus police arrested a local man who is accused of firing a handgun several times inside a house during a family argument.

Robert W. Reed, 57, 926 Union St., was arrested about 2:40 p.m. Monday in the 900 block of Union Street on a charge of criminal recklessness with a firearm, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police spokesman.

When police officers arrived, they learned Reed had fired a handgun several times inside the residence during the argument, Harris said. One of the fired rounds struck an interior door, traveled out of the house and was found in an exterior wall of a home across the street, Harris said.

Police did find the firearm believed to have been used in the shooting, Harris said.

Reed is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $7,500 bond, jail officials said.
