Columbus Christian falters against Lighthouse

Staff Reports

The Columbus Christian boys basketball team succeeded in its plan to slow the game down against a Bloomington Lighthouse team that had won convincingly in both of the previous two meetings between the schools.

It wasn’t quite enough to get the Crusaders over the hump in a 35-34 defeat in the final game of the ICST South Regional.

Columbus Christian (20-10) had a shot to win after Bloomington Lighthouse had pulled ahead on some late free throws, but the game-winning attempt bounced out.

Levi Sallee led the Crusaders with 12 points.

Columbus Christian will play again in the National Association of Christian Athletes tournament in Dayton, Tennessee, on March 2.

Panthers stumble at home

The Jennings County boys fell into an early hole and never recovered, suffering a 66-34 home loss to Bloomington South.

Nick AmRhein and Justin Pettit led the Panthers (7-13) with seven points apiece.
