• Steve and Candy for being such great neighbors, from Rhonda.

• the Lady Bull Dogs on another terrific season and great tournament run.

• the Columbus North Bull Dogs girls basketball team for earning the right to compete for a second consecutive state championship and for representing our entire community with dignity and class.

• Jerry Simo for his help, from a former Lions Club member.

• those who did such a terrific clean up job on County Road 400N after the storms from last summer, as the road is looking better and feeling much safer.

• Kevin Welsh, the cast and crew for the wonderful performance at Columbus East of “Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.”

• Julie Schuette for taking us to Greenwood and Brown County on Saturday to visit family and for all the kind things she does for us often, from Aunt Mary and Aunt Elsie.

• Jack Hobny for changing my tires Sunday morning.

• the person who called in the Onion regarding the neglect of the two St. Bernard dogs.

• the Columbus North girls for the basketball game they played at state and going all the way like they did, from your biggest fan in Bull Dog history.

• all my friends for your help since my accident, from Nancy Battleson.

• the North girls basketball team, because you are still Indiana’s champions and we were very proud of you.

• Ron Speer, for his kindness.

Onions to …

• the nephew who is destroying his late uncle’s business.

• all people who display old, torn ragged American flags, because that is a disgrace to all veterans and the United States of America, and a new flag doesn’t cost very much.

• school administrators who used PTO money for a conference instead of using it to directly help students as the fund is a parent/teacher organization to help kids.

• bicyclists who don’t obey traffic laws, blowing through stop signs and then flipping off a driver who almost hit them.

• my neighbor for his noisy chickens.

• the city for having the tower at Mill Race Park locked on a beautiful Saturday afternoon.

• doctors and nurses who don’t appear healthy and think no one notices.

• those who are aware of animal abuse or neglect but do not report this to either the sheriff’s department or the Bartholomew County Humane Society for them to investigate.

• the two women watching a loud video in the office Monday morning which disturbed others who were trying to work.

• the motorcyclist at the Rocky Ford and Marr intersection Sunday who made a huge scene about being given the right of way and needs to learn the rules of the road.

• people who use other people’s dumpsters so that the people who have the right to use them can’t.

• the young mother who was carrying her barefoot child/young toddler into the store in upper-30-degree weather.

• the man in his almost-new black sports car Friday evening for getting as close as he could to the elderly, handicapped woman and then yelling insults at her.

• the local neighborhood crime watch leader who always wants to write a letter to the paper or complaining.

• the newspaper for not putting coupons in my paper Saturday, saying they would send the coupons to me and then not doing it.

• those expecting our firemen to rescue pets in a fire, because the lives of the firefighters are more important than the lives of the pets.

• those who suggested calling animal organizations to report cases of animal neglect when both have already been called.

• people who go to food banks in two counties and pick up stuff for people who live in a different county.

• the person who is nosy in other people’s business in the community.

• local radio stations for not having local news on Saturday or Sunday.

• to a Republic newspaper carrier who puts The Republic in a bag when the weather is good, not bad.

• to the bar that lets their employees sleep in the booth or at the end of the bar while they are supposed to be working.

• all those who suggest making useless phone calls regarding animal abuse and neglect rather than actively trying to do something to stop it.
