Crusaders move into semis

DAYTON, Tennessee — Columbus Christian broke open a close game late to pull away for a 63-44 win against Legacy Christian (Stevens City, Virginia) in the quarterfinals of the National Association of Christian Athletes Division 5 tournament.

The Crusaders led 31-25 at halftime, but saw their lead cut to two in the third quarter. They outscored Legacy 22-7 in the fourth period.

Logan Roth and Lain Isley each scored 13 points to lead Columbus Christian, while Evan Reed added 12. Adriane Polley had eight points and 12 rebounds.

“I thought we handled their press well,” Columbus Christian coach Kevin Roth said. “They tried to up-tempo the game. I was pleased with Evan Reed’s play at the point controlling the tempo. He guarded their point guard and really caused him some problems.”

The Crusaders (23-11) play in the semifinals at 10 a.m. today against Eastland Christian (Orlando, Florida). North River Christian (Alabama) and Mountaintop Christian (Wisconsin) are in the other semifinal, and the finals are at 11:45 a.m. Saturday.
