Rebecca was born in Bloomingdale, Indiana, Sept. 3, 1926, and was the daughter of Foster and Kathleen (Morrison) Allee. Rebecca and her brother were raised on the family’s farm and attended the Bloomingdale schools. She graduated from Purdue University in 1951 and earned her Masters in Education at Indiana University in 1973. For over twenty-five years, Rebecca taught in the Columbus public schools, primarily at Columbus East High School.

Rebecca was an avid learner and a loyal friend. She was part of an international high school teacher exchange in China in 1988. In her retirement, she studied Spanish and piano and traveled on yearly medical mission trips to small villages in Mexico. Rebecca was on the local board for the Indianapolis Art Museum and partook of various educational travel adventures. She regularly played tennis and hosted a group of retired teachers that discussed each issue of the Atlantic Monthly. She enjoyed her family immensely and visited frequently.
Rebecca is survived by her three daughters, Kathleen Rehbein of Shorewood, Wisconsin, Martha (Cameron) Owen of Concord, Massachusetts, and Polly Rehbein of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She is also survived by her five grandchildren, Rebecca and Abigail Owen and Zachary, Jonah and Adrita Rehbein Jones.
The family is most grateful for the loving hearts and hands of the people who cared for her these past few years.
