North wins two events

BLOOMINGTON — The Columbus North boys won two events Wednesday night in the Bloomington South Indoor Invitational at Indiana University.

Mitchell Burton won the long jump with a leap of 21 feet, 9 1/4 inches. Elijah Brooks, Robert Pflueger, Chandler Steward and Ben Rankin took the distance medley relay in 10 minutes, 58.61 seconds.

Burton also finished second in the 60 meters (7.27) and teamed with Pflueger, Harley Huser and Cortez Bandy to take second in the 4×200 relay (1:33.76). Sam Horak was second in the 1,600 (4:49.75).

For the Bull Dog girls, Johanna Anderson and Jahna Smiley finished second and third in the high jump, both at 5-0. Arig Tong (5:37.04) and Allison Coffey (5:38.17) took second and third in the 1,600, and Sierra Lax, Karol Espinosa, Nina Bouthier and Rachel Brougher were second in the distance medley relay (12:57.34).

Brown County’s Elly Wertz finished second in the girls long jump (16-8 1/4). Kathleen McCann, Wertz, Shaelyn Biddle and Vivien Crimmins took second in the 4×200 relay (1:51.70); and McCann, Ryanne Smith, Corrissa Proctor and Jalynn Stanford were second in the 4×400 rrelay (4:23.34).

For the Brown County boys, Cole Chudy, Job Lawson, Wyatt Wyman and Marino Dolph finished second in the 4×800 relay (8:22.80).
