Ward Edwards II

Columbus

Ward Ray Edwards II was a hard-working, loyal family man, devoted to his wife and children. His quiet, kind and gentle spirit will always be remembered and cherished. He was a thoughtful and considerate man, and for that, he will remain in the hearts of those who knew him.

Married in 1994 to Nancy Ziegler Edwards, he was the father of Eli and Emma. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in mechanical engineering and started at Cummins Inc. in 1989. His in-laws, Kent and Edith Ziegler, are longtime Columbus residents.

He was active in all of his children’s activities, including Boy Scout Troop 557. His family members are longtime members of First Presbyterian Church where Nancy was baptized, Ward and Nancy were married, the children were baptized, Eli was confirmed and Ward served as a deacon. He will be sorely missed by all.

Ward died Thursday, March 10, 2016, in Seymour, Indiana. He was born in New Jersey October 21, 1966, the son of the late Ward R. Edwards Sr. and Mary Joan Bowles Edwards of Crystal Lake, Illinois.

Surviving besides his wife, children and mother, are sisters, Kim (Scott) Burnett of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Robin (Ray) Foster of Crystal Lake, Illinois, Jenny (Larry) Hauf of Crystal Lake, Illinois, and Kelly (Tom) Giardino of West Dundee, Illinois.

First Presbyterian Church will be handling an open house in Ward’s memory in April. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Ward Edwards’ Children’s Educational Scholarship Fund, which has been established at United Way of Bartholomew County.
