Traffic stop results in meth possession arrest

Columbus police arrested a local man on a warrant and drug charges after he was stopped for driving with a suspended license.

Eloy Salinas, 54, 2208 Fifth St., was charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving while suspended and a Bartholomew Superior Court II warrant, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus police spokesman.

At about 7 p.m. Monday, officer Troy Love stopped Salinas near Seventh Street and Pleasant Grove on the license violation, Harris said.

Love found two small bags of methamphetamine that Salinas had concealed while preparing to transport Salinas to the Bartholomew County Jail.

Salinas is being held in the jail in lieu of $70,000 bond, jail officials said.
