MALE

Collin Lollar, Columbus North senior baseball player

Lollar struck out 11 in six innings and went 3 for 4 with a double, a home run and two RBIs in Saturday’s 7-3 win against Louisville Ballard in the Super Prep Tournament. Earlier in the tournament, he went 2 for 3 with a double in Friday’s 10-4 loss to Louisville Trinity.

His performance last week:

“I thought I was seeing the ball pretty well. I was being really patient at the plate, and I was waiting for my pitch. On the mound, I kept throwing strikes, so it was good.”

Do you do anything special to prepare?

“I warm up in the outfield first, then I’ll take about a 10-minute break and go to the bullpen and throw about 30 pitches. I say a prayer right before I go out to pitch, and then I throw.”

“I want to take baseball as far as I can. I want to take it past college and see how far I can go.”

FEMALE

Abby Kidwell, Hauser senior softball player

Kidwell went 3 for 4 with a double and four RBIs to help lead the Jets to a 14-1, five-inning Mid-Hoosier Conference win at South Decatur.

Her performance last week:

“I see room for improvement, so I’m always working every practice to get better.”

Do you do anything special to prepare?

“I always try to work hard and focus with what I’m struggling with at the time, and I lead the team in prayer, which is really important to me.”

“To hit another home run. I hit one last season, so I want to hit at least another one, if not two.”

“I really want to go to Spain, just to learn about the culture. It seems really interesting. It seems nice.”
