The former director of business services for the Columbus Parks and Recreation Department has been appointed as the city’s new financial director.
Jamie Brinegar served in the parks department for more than six years before being named the new director of operations, finance and risk this month.
He replaces Matt Caldwell, the former Columbus director of operations and finance. Caldwell recently resigned from his position with the city to take a job at a nonprofit in Indianapolis.
As the new director of operations, finance and risk, Brinegar will oversee city strategy development, policy development and execution. Additionally, he will monitor the financial, budget and accounting strategy, risk, purchasing, information technology and office management areas of the city’s operations.
Brinegar holds a bachelor of arts in economics and political science from Yale University. He and his family have lived in Columbus for eight years, and he coaches track for Columbus North High School.
