Traffic stop results in meth-possession arrest

A local man was arrested on a charge of possession of methamphetamine during a traffic stop in the 100 block of Gladstone Avenue.

Eric D. Caldwell, 38, 51 S. Gladstone Ave., is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $62,500 bond, jail officials said.

At about 9:30 p.m. Thursday, Columbus Police officer Troy Love stopped Caldwell’s vehicle after confirming Caldwell had a suspended driver’s license, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police spokesman.

Love found two syringes on the vehicle’s passenger seat and an additional syringe in the vehicle’s glove compartment, Harris said. One of the syringes had a small amount of liquid in it that tested positive for methamphetamine, Harris said.

Caldwell also was arrested on a charge of driving while suspended with a prior conviction, Harris said.
