Thelma E. Foist, 86, of Columbus, passed away Saturday, April 23, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor.

Before retirement she was employed as a bookkeeper for Burnside Concrete.

She was a member of Burnsville Christian Church, Lady Elks and Lady Moose. She loved to do word search and help her husband Bob sell his woodworking at festivals.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Norman Funeral Home in Hope with Dan Shaw officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to service Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be donated to Burnsville Christian Church or Our Hospice of South Central Indiana through the funeral home.

Born Feb. 10, 1930, in Bartholomew County, Thelma was the daughter of Glen D. Bowers Sr. and Lottie M. Rust Bowers. She married Robert D. Foist Aug. 7, 1949, at the Burnsville Methodist Church and he preceded her in death on Aug. 24, 2015.

Survivors include her children, Robert L. (Susan) Foist of Columbus, Elizabeth A. (Greg) Barriger of Columbus and Thomas D. Foist of Youngstown, Ohio; grandchildren, Thomas M. (Mindy) Barriger of Shelbyville, Gregory T. (Kellie) Barriger of Hayden, Karielle A. Foist of Atlanta, Georgia, and Kelsea D. Foist of Chicago; great-grandchildren, Aric W. Barriger of Mosinee, Wisconsin and JoAnn E. Barriger of Hayden; and sister, Bertha Jane Studler of Columbus.

Thelma was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Glen D. Bowers Jr.; and sisters, Rebecca Ammerman, Genevieve Shaw and Sylvia Raney.
