Ruth Knarr, 92, of Greensburg, passed away at 10:20 a.m. Monday, May 2, 2016, at Morning Breeze Health Care Center in Greensburg. She was born July 26, 1923, in Decatur County, the daughter of William and Hester Eva (Risk) Bare.

A lifelong resident of Decatur County, she graduated in 1941 from New Point High School and worked at Decatur County Memorial Hospital during World War II.

Mrs. Knarr was a member of First Baptist Church in Greensburg and attended Westport United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, taking care of her family, collecting recipes and cookbooks and her grandchildren.

She married Carroll “Wig” Knarr September 5, 1948, in Laurel, Indiana. He preceded her in death November 21, 2004.

Survivors include her daughters, Janice Kroger of Columbus, Nancy (Terry) Steed of Westport and Kay (Rick) Nobbe of Greensburg; her son, Danny (Linda) Knarr of Greensburg; her grandchildren, Bret Kroger of Hope, Bart Kroger of Greensburg, Kristi Sanders of Columbus, Kelly Huckaby of Houston, Texas, Kim Ernstes of Westport, Kari Moles of Greensburg, Kyle Nobbe of Cincinnati, Ohio, Staci Shutte, Justin Knarr and Sarah Knarr, all of Greensburg; and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Erma Colson, and brother, Allen Bare.

The funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 5, 2016, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home with Mr. Steve Fortner officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Aerie Cemetery in Letts. A time of visitation will be held from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, Westport Volunteer Fire Department or Letts Volunteer Fire Department.
