Laura Geraldine “Gerry” McCord, 92, of Midway Street, died at 3:01 a.m. Sunday, May 15, 2016, at Kindred Transitional Care and Rehabilitation.

Gerry was born August 9, 1923, in Glasgow, Kentucky, the daughter of William Hayden and Annie Reed Goodman McIntyre. She married Norval Eugene “Gene” McCord October 16, 1946.

Gerry was a homemaker and took pride in caring for her flowers and gardening. She loved spending time with her grandchildren.

A private family funeral service will be held Wednesday, May 18, 2016, at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home with Larry Elgar officiating. Entombment will be at Garland Brook Cemetery Mausoleum.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or Orphan Grain Train, through the funeral home.

Survivors include her sons, Gary Wayne (Brenda) McCord of Columbus and Linuel Dean McCord of south Florida; grandchildren, Erin (Kenneth) McCord-Coons, Nicholas McCord, Breanne McCord, Amy (Tony) Monteleone and Darci (Chris) Baker; and seven great-grandchildren. Gerry is also survived by her lifelong best friend, Betty Robinson of Columbus.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Gene; a brother, Woodrow Wilson McIntyre; and two sisters, Gladys Mae McIntyre and Golda McIntyre Tolle.
