Two arrested after drugs found during traffic stop

Columbus Police COPS officers arrested two local residents after a traffic stop where they found methamphetamine in the vehicle.

COPS officers Kyle Young and Troy Love stopped the vehicle at about 1:20 p.m. Saturday in the 1100 block of Washington Street, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police spokesman.

Officers spoke with two people in the car, Derek A. Green, 32, 745 California St. and Jessica A. Wenger, 32, 12523 S. Hillview Road.

Young noticed that Green’s hands were concealed under him and a partial orange pill was visible on his leg, Harris said. When Green left the vehicle, Young found a digital scale and a small bag of methamphetamine in the vehicle, Harris said.

Green was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, Harris said. He is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $65,000 bond, jail officials said.

Wenger, who was the driver, was arrested on a Bartholomew county warrant, Harris said. She is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bond, jail officials said.
