Purdue Extension offers food preservation series

A home food preservation series is being offered by Purdue Extension Bartholomew County.

The weekly series, entitled Hoosier Harvest: A Workshop for Home Food Preservers, begins Tuesday and continues once a week through June 28 at Columbus East High School from 6 to 9 p.m.

The workshop is designed to assist first-time and experienced food preservers. It is scheduled on Tuesdays, with sessions on May 31, June 7, June 14, June 21 and June 28. Classes will have “hands-on” time to process food which class members will then take home.

To register, visit the Purdue Extension Bartholomew County website at extension.purdue.edu/bartholomew/Pages/default.aspx, call the office at 812-379-1665 or contact Harriett Armstrong at 812-603-2470. Pre-registration is requested as class size is limited.

Registration fee is $10 for each class or $45 for the series. Couples who are sharing materials may register for $35 each. The registration form allows individuals to designate which classes they wish to attend.
