Phyllis J. Pruitt, 81, of Franklin, passed from this life at 5:55 a.m. Saturday, May 28, 2016, at the Indiana Masonic Home in Franklin.

Phyllis retired from Centra Credit Union in 1995.

She was a member of Flintwood Wesleyan Church, Classy Lassy Red Hat Club, Royal Neighbors Home Economics Club and was formerly active in 4­H.

The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Chaplain Charles Stanley officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday and from noon to time of service Friday. Entombment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum.

Memorial contributions may be made to Heart to Heart Hospice or the Indiana Masonic Home.

Phyllis was born in Columbus, Aug.t 5, 1934. She was the daughter of Ernest Eugene and Doris Gertrude Percifield Bishop.

She married James “Jim” Pruitt in 1980.

Survivors include her sons, Michael (Lisa) Burton of Flatrock and Gary (Patricia) Burton of Columbus; grandchildren, Thomas (Janna) Butler, Leann Butler, Colyn (John) York, Willy (Chasity) Stoddard and Lyndsey (Chris) Hehman; five great-­grandchildren; brothers, Dean (Beverly) Bishop of Columbus and David Bishop of Columbus; and her sister, Cheryl Hendry of Columbus.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; a brother, Stanley Bishop; a sister, Charlene Bear; and a grandson, Johnathan Stoddard.
