The hours of operation at The Columbus/Bartholomew Recycling Center, 720 Mapleton St. in Columbus, have changed. The Recycling Center is now open 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.
Business and Tox-A-Way drop-off times have been expanded. Businesses can now drop off their recyclables 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The same hours apply to the Tox-A-Way recycling program, which is open to Bartholomew County residents for the proper disposal of small quantities.
Items accepted for Tox-A-Way include:
Rechargeable batteries
Automotive batteries — limit 5 per visit
Motor oil — 5-gallon limit per visit
Cooking oil — 5- gallon limit per visit
Oil and hydraulic filters, but no gasoline filters
Gasoline, diesel fuel and kerosene — 5 gallon limit per visit
Antifreeze- 5 gallon limit per visit
Oil-based paint — 5-gallon limit per visit
Mineral spirits and thinners — 5-gallon limit per visit, no chlorinated solvents
Stains, varnishes and polyurethane finishes — 5 gallon limit per visit
Liquid weed and brush killer — 5- gallon limit per visit, no pesticides or other specialty chemicals
Liquid lawn fertilizer — 5-gallon limit per visit
Intact compact and tube (2 foot/4 foot/8 foot) florescent light bulbs — limit five per visit
Smoke detectors and alarms — limit five per visit
The mobile recycling routes at the Kroger grocery store in Columbus and at 529 Mill St. in Hope have been discontinued. The other recycling locations are:

Convenience sites in Harrison Township, 10293 Old Nashville Road, Columbus, and Petersville, 11110 25th St., Columbus: 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays.
