2006

A tornado with wind speeds up to 110 mph carved an 8-mile path of destruction from northeast of Reddington south through Crothersville, destroying about 12 homes and damaging dozens more.

Cardboard packing boxes filled with books, supplies, kitchen utensils and memories lined the hallways of Jefferson School as students and faculty prepared to move to Lillian C. Schmitt Elementary School in the fall.

Trotting and pony races, traditional at the Columbus Racing Fair and Carnival, were replaced with motorcycle racing and a horse show at the 55th annual fair at the fairgrounds on 25th Street.
