Library offering fun summer programs for your entertainment

Children across Jennings County are signing up for the Jennings County Public Library’s reading program, “On Your Mark, Get Set … READ!” It combines reading with fun events and prizes to bring children a memorable summer.

The program gives children a chance to earn prizes by attending events at the library, reading and accomplishing challenges given by the library staff. The challenges given include listening to audiobooks or CDs, reading graphic novels or magazines, completing a “Brain Challenge” for the child’s age group and watching DVDs checked out at the library.

The library also is providing fun and interactive events for the children registered in the program, depending on their age group. Events include book fairs, movies, arts and crafts, strolls, games and a lock-in at the library. Classes for adults and people with disabilities are also included.

The deadline for entering the activities you have completed is July 28. Prizes will be awarded during the closing ceremony, noon to 1 p.m. July 30. If a child has won a prize, they will be notified July 29. The last day to claim a prize is Aug. 6.

Children can sign up at the Jennings County Public Library, 2375 State Road 3 North, North Vernon. For more information, 812-346-2091.
