North swimmer finishes 83rd at Olympic Trials

Michael Brinegar, who will be a junior at Columbus North, placed 83rd in the 400-meter freestyle preliminaries on the first day of the U.S. Olympic swimming trials Sunday in Omaha, Nebraska.

Brinegar, who entered as the No. 102 seed, finished with a time of 4 minutes, 0.88 seconds. Zane Grothe had the top time of the prelims with a 3:47.03.

The 400 free was the first of two events at the trials for Brinegar, who also will compete in the 1,500 freestyle preliminaries Saturday.
