Edward DePrez Dodds, 89, of Greensburg, passed away on Monday, June 27, 2016, at Arbor Grove Village in Greensburg.

Ed was born in Shelbyville January 25, 1927, the son of Amos and Florence (Kanouse) Dodds. He graduated from St. Paul High School in 1945 and joined the U.S. Army the same month, serving during the end of World War II. On June 29, 1947, he married Virginia Nelson in Greensburg at First Christian Church, and she survives.

Ed worked as a masonry brick layer for more than 50 years, many of those years with Bruns & Gutzwiller. For more than 60 years, he was a member of First Christian Church where he served as trustee and deacon for many years. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Masonic Lodge, York Rite, Indianapolis Valley Scottish Rite, Murat Shrine and Brick Layers Union No. 4. He enjoyed traveling and driving for the Shrine Hospital transport for children.

Other survivors include his daughter, Karen (Bob) Sluder; his son, Michael (Shirley) Dodds; three grandchildren, Michael (Stormy) Wilson, Dustin (Traci) Dodds and Erin Dodds; and three great-grandchildren,  Mazey Wilson and Ashton and Allie Dodds.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Kenneth Kanouse and Rollin Dodds.

Visitation for family and friends will be held on Wednesday, June 29, 2016, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home in Greensburg. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 30, beginning at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home, with the Rev. Danny Wolford officiating. Burial will follow at South Park Cemetery with military graveside honors.
