Philharmonic receives state arts grant

The Indiana Arts Commission announced that Columbus Pro Musica will receive a $12,894 grant for the 2017 fiscal year.

Columbus Pro Musica was incorporated in 1970 and encourages active musical interest within the Columbus community. Today, the organization is best known as the Columbus Indiana Philharmonic Orchestra.

The grant is for operating financial support of the arts, said Margaret Powers, the Philharmonic’s executive director. The money, awarded annually, will be applied toward the organization’s general operating costs, she added.

The state arts commission awarded more than $3.02 million in state and federal funds for Indiana grants and arts and cultural programs.
