• Dr. Elliott, floor nurses and support staff for taking excellent care of me on Tower 6 while I was there three days over the weekend, from Ken Van Liew.

• Service 1 Plumbing for amazing service on the Fourth of July.

• Hobby Lobby, Hemispheres and Mardell stores for re-affirming the importance of God and the foundation of our country, from a patriotic Christian.

• the American Legion Post No. 24 for being open on the Fourth of July and for honoring veterans both past and present.

• Dennis Anness for his friendship and concern over the years, from an old friend.

• Garry Christy for his kindness and patience Sunday while giving telephone service, from a thankful old lady.

• Kroger for giving veterans a hot dog as a small token of appreciation this Fourth of July.

• Kenny Lewis and Chris Lobdel for a great job on my new porch and sidewalks on Kentucky Avenue.

• the Rev. Justin White for his right-on sermon Sunday, with appreciation from the congregation.

• Dr. Russell and his lab at Columbus Regional Hospital and nurses Debbie and Anita for the great job they did and for taking great care of me, from a grateful patient.

• volunteers Daryl McMath, Paul Poe, Andrew Goldsmid, Nick Firestone, Lou Wenzler and Matt Gerth, for helping move heavy office equipment, from Turning Point.

• the sweet couple at Menards for buying my seat protector.

• the motorist of the out-of-gas vehicle who was given a gas can and gas and then did not return the gas can.

• those who complain about chickens within the city limits.

• the driver of the white car that raced in and out of traffic Friday evening and then cut across traffic on the bridge to get to State Road 46.

• people who think everyone wants to see them in their skimpy shorts out in public.

• hair salons that cannot do a haircut correctly, even with a picture.

• disrespectful neighbors who think it’s OK to have farm animals in their city back yards.

• Columbus for not displaying American flags downtown as the city did on Memorial Day.

• the city for not lining Washington Street with American flags on the country’s 240th birthday.

• the facility for allowing its lawn sprinklers to spray some kind of filmy matter over parked vehicles that is extremely hard to remove and for setting those sprinklers to activate during rain.

• those who fail to take responsibility for their mistakes and instead blame others.

• people who set off fireworks that are intended for large, open areas, not residential areas.

• people who use fireworks without regard for neighbors with all the noise and smoke that went on for over two hours.

• people who disregard the city ordinance by not keeping their cats inside on their own property.

• the store that doesn’t know the difference between a chicken thigh and breasts.

• Realtors that have been given a message to turn off the lights after showings and do not do so.

• litterers who left their trash after enjoying the QMIX fireworks.

• families who have such lazy kids who cannot do away with the weeds.

• Bartholomew County and Columbus for not having tougher fireworks laws.

• the police officer Sunday evening with the sirens and lights on who felt the need to blow his horn as well.

• the city for Gladstone and McKinley avenues, where there are cars parked halfway into the street and buses can’t pass at the same time.

• the person calling my home and cellphone with a restricted number.

• people who live around 22nd Street who are setting off loud fireworks and let one hit my house.

• people who turn Columbus into a war zone with fireworks.

• the city for allowing four nights of fireworks until midnight.

• the man who visits the fast food restaurant every morning who is loud, uses foul language and is rude.

• anyone who believes prison should be used for punishment or threat of punishment for any convict.
