Electric box fans are being distributed for free to Bartholomew County households without air conditioning.
A limited number of the fans are available on a first-come, first-served basis, said Diane Doup, community outreach coordinator for the Lincoln-Central Neighborhood Family Center, which is working with the United Way of Bartholomew County on the effort.
The upcoming local weather forecast calls for temperatures reaching the upper 80s.
Fans will be distributed at the neighborhood center, 1039 Sycamore St., during regular office hours — 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Fans will be limited to one per household, and applicants must show proof of Bartholomew County residency.
