Cynthia Sue “Cindy” Leigh, 67, of Columbus, died at 12:17 a.m. Friday, July 15, 2016, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Mrs. Leigh was born Feb. 16, 1949, in South Bend, to Maurice Harold and Wanetta Zehendner Strange. She married Dave Leigh July 20, 1968.

She was a 1967 graduate of Greenwood High School where she was the chief editor of the school newspaper.

Mr. and Mrs. Leigh were self-employed in the Columbus and Johnson County areas.

She loved animals, including cats, dogs, eagles, owls, rabbits and even frogs.

Survivors include her husband, Dave; a daughter, Wendy Sue (Chris) Wilkerson of Greenwood; grandson, Carl Wilkerson of Greenwood; siblings, Jan (Denis) Loveless of Southport, Debra Norton of Greenwood, Pam (Michael) Crooper of Greenwood, Lori (Edward) Rodriguez of Dallas, Texas, and Mike Strange; sister-in-law, Nancy Leigh of Kentucky; and seven nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The funeral will be conducted at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Virgil Clotfelter officiating. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. until service time Wednesday.

The committal service will be held at noon Wednesday at the Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Bartholomew County Humane Society.
