The Sunrise Rotary Club is hosting its annual Fill the Bus event this weekend to collect school supply donations for students across Bartholomew County.
Rotarians will be stationed at the Walmart store at 2025 Merchants Mile, Columbus, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday to help local residents fill a school bus with various school supplies for Bartholomew County students of all grades.
Priscilla Scalf, a member of the Sunrise Rotary Club, said members of the club will be on-hand to provide residents with school supply lists, help them pick out the correct supplies and load the supplies on to the school bus. Basic items, such as paper, pencils and pens, scissors, crayons, etc. will be accepted.
The supplies collected Saturday will be donated to the Bartholomew County School Supply Assistance Program, which will begin distributing backpacks to local students next Tuesday.
