Wilma Parish, 93, of Westport, passed away at 11:55 p.m. Wednesday, July 20, 2016, at Morning Breeze Retirement & Health Care Center.
She was born April 22, 1923, in Decatur County, the daughter of Ora M. and Alpha Belle (Scripture) Grimes. Wilma married James O. Parish in Kingston on July 13, 1941, and he survives.
She was a lifelong resident of Decatur County and a member of the Westport Christian Church, a former member of Forest Hill Presbyterian Church and Mount Aerie Baptist Church, member of the former Shiloh Rebekah Lodge No. 561 and Psi Iota Xi Zeta Nu Chapter of Westport. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.
Jim and Wilma had just celebrated their 75th wedding anniversary.
Other survivors include her daughters, Mary Belle Baltus of Columbus, Jean Ann Petrie and Barbara Darlene Tobias, both of Westport; her son, Michael Lynn Parish of Westport; nine grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; seven stepgrandchildren; and nine stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Marie Tichenor; and her brothers, Russell, Carl, Virgil and Forrest Grimes.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Mike Bartlett and Pastor George Willette officiating. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 4 until 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
