Brian’s picks – July 28

Come 1 p.m. Aug. 3, pop music artists Demi Lovato and Nick Jonas will make a stop at Edinburgh Premium Outlets to promote their concert that night at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. A chance to meet the singers will unfold via a texting activity about 12:30 p.m., and there also will be a chance for free tickets to the show. They will spend a few minutes in a question-and-answer session. Information: premiumoutlets.com/outlet/edinburgh

I grew up in rural Kentucky, but had never heard of a barn quilt until learning that Columbus artist Marilyn Brackney would lead people in creating them from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Columbus Area Arts Council’s free Artz Daze activity in front of The Commons, 300 Washington St. A barn quilt actually refers to a piece of wood painted in bright and bold colors to look like a single quilt square. The activity will be moved inside The Commons if it rains. Information: 812-376-2539 or artsincolumbus.org.
