Local company giving away backpacks on Saturday

TCC, a Verizon authorized retailer, will partner with A Wireless to give away backpacks to students in Columbus.

On July 30, between noon and 3 p.m., TCC employees will distribute backpacks filled with school supplies to students who stop by at the 2075 W. Jonathan Moore Pike location.

The following week, Bartholomew Consolidated and Flat Rock-Hawcreek students return to classes for the new school year.

The local TCC store has 300 backpacks to give away, and any leftover backpacks will be donated to local schools.

The backpacks contain pencils, notebooks and a pencil box. One backpack will be distributed per child who attends with the parent on a first-come, first-serve basis. The materials inside the backpacks are geared for grade school students up to sixth grade.

Since 2013, TCC has donated more than 360,000 backpacks nationwide at the beginning of each school year.
