Vivian Irene Hanson Jones, 91, of Columbus, died at 10:03 p.m. Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at Columbus Regional Hospital.

Born Feb. 13, 1925, in Wilcox, Pennsylvania, Vivian was the daughter of Arthur and Lillian Borjeson Hanson. She married Raymond Jones April 27, 1957, in Columbus and he survives.

She had worked for Stackpoles in Pennsylvania as an inspector and after moving to Columbus worked in the office of Howes Leather Company. She served for many years as a Pink Lady with Columbus Regional Hospital Auxiliary, was a homemaker and a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She enjoyed the unconditional love she received from her dogs, especially Sleepy.

Vivian is survived by her husband, Raymond, of Columbus; her daughter, Christine (Rich) McGown of Fairland; grandchildren, David McGown of Stuttgart, Germany, and Jessica McGown of Fort Collins, Colorado; nephews, Robert (Jan) Benson of DeRidder, Louisiana, and Deryl (Janet) Benson of Lincoln University, Pennsylvania; cousins, Louise Seth, Barbara O’Rourke, Peggy Smith and Janet Warmbrodt, all of Pennsylvania.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Jeanetta Benson; and an infant daughter.

Funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2016, at Hathaway-Myers Chapel on Pearl Street with Pastor Larry Isbell officiating. Burial will follow in Garland Brook Cemetery. Friends may call from noon until service time.

In lieu of flowers, memorials for Vivian may be directed to First Lutheran Church Foundation, Our Hospice of South Central Indiana or Bartholomew County Humane Society.
