Thomas A. “Tom” Rude, 49, of Bloomington, passed away on Saturday, July 30, 2016, at his home in Bloomington. He was born June 24, 1967, in Seymour, Indiana, to Marion R. and Dorothy Ann (Gerth) Rude.

Tom was a 1985 graduate of Seymour High School and a graduate of Indiana University where he received a Bachelors’ Degree in Telecommunications in 1990 and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1999. He married Pamela S. Albert on September 14, 1996, in Columbus, Indiana.

Tom was a licensed elementary teacher for several years, working at both Journey Christian School and Lighthouse Christian Academy. He was also a substitute and remediation aide for the Monroe County School Corporation.

He was a member of the Vineyard Community Church in Bloomington, Indiana, where he served as assistant pastor and worship coordinator.

He loved his wife, family, music, travel, movies, sports, especially IU basketball and Notre Dame football, and spending time with his family and friends. He was an avid guitarist, drummer and vocalist, was an Eagle Scout and volunteered at Summit Elementary School. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

He is survived by his wife, Pamela S. Rude of Bloomington; three sisters, Cheryl (Rude) Stout, Carol Rude Killion and Teresa Rude (Corky) Miranda, all of Columbus; two brothers, Robert Rude and Richard (Donna) Rude, all of Seymour, Indiana; his father and mother-in-law, Ron and Marcia Albert of Hope, Indiana; Brothers-in-law, Jeff (Beth) Albert of Hope, Indiana, and Greg (Sarah) Albert of Atlanta, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a niece, Melissa LeMarr; a nephew, Jared Rude; and a brother-in-law, Duane Killion.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 6, 2016, at the Vineyard Community Church in Bloomington, with the Rev. David G. Schunk officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Allen Funeral Home & Crematory in Bloomingtion and from 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Garland Brooke Cemetery in Columbus, Indiana.

Memorials may be given through Allen Funeral Home to the Crisis Pregnancy Center/Hannah House in Bloomington or the Olcott Center (Cancer Support) in Bloomington.
