Harold A. “Bud” Yates, 95, of Richland Center, passed away on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at the Richland Hospital. He was born on June 3, 1921, in West Salem, Illinois, the son of Aubrey and Emily (McClane) Yates.

Bud graduated in 1940 from Bedford High School in Bedford, Indiana. Before enlisting in the Seabees during WWII, he married Betty Smith.

Bud began a 40 year career in banking in Indiana and Illinois at the First National Bank in Columbus, Indiana. While at First National Bank he started the personal loan department.

He was a lifetime member of the American Legion and Masonic Lodge. In 1970, Bud married Marlene Deets. He enjoyed playing golf, watching all sports on TV and listening to 40s music on TV. Bud spent many years with friends in the morning for their coffee sessions.

Bud is survived by his wife, Marlene; son, John (Sheila) Yates; grandsons, Kevin Yates, John (Melissa) Yates and Alex (Jessica) Yates; four great‐grandchildren; one sister, Ruth Collier; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Bud was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Dorothy Johnson; two nephews, Rick and David Johnson; three brothers‐in‐law, Larry and Robert Deets and Wilfred Johnson; and first wife, Betty.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Aug. 27, at Garden Brook in Columbus, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bud’s name to a charity of your choice.

The Pratt Funeral and Cremation Services assisted the family with their arrangements.
