Register this week for Saturday’s Moonlight Loop bicycle ride

The third annual Moonlight Loop Evening Bicycle Ride scheduled for Saturday is continuing registration this week.

The Loop is a police-led, 19-mile evening bicycle ride around Columbus to benefit Columbus Animal Care Services. The ride starts at 9 p.m. Saturday from the Bartholomew County Library Plaza and ends there, too.

All funds generated from the event support the agency’s medical fund, which covers spay and neuter costs, pet care services, veterinarian treatment for pets at the facility, medical requirements for transports and pet food, as well as promoting adoptions and educational programs.

Entry frees through Friday are $30 (online registration closes Thursday night, although in-person sign ups will continue at the Animal Care center.) Event-day registration is $35. Riders must wear a helmet and have a headlight and taillight on their bike. Riders must be 16 years old to ride their own bicycle.

Columbus Bikeshare will have bikes to rent for the Loop ride. Discounted rates will be available.
