Three Bartholomew County residents have received Hoosier Hospitality Awards for outstanding contributions to the tourism industry.

Susan Baxter of Comfort Inn, Lisa Critney of Holiday Inn Express & Suites and Janeen Sprague of Sprague Hotel Developers received the awards Friday at the Indiana State Fair. They were among 18 receiving the award for their high level of service in tourism-related jobs at hotels, restaurants, attractions and other destinations.

Baxter is an executive housekeeper nominated for her efforts to make sure guests arriving early have a clean room and a welcoming environment.

Critney is a guest service representative who was nominated for helping an extended stay guest who was ill by putting together a comfort kit of beverages and soup and bringing flowers to her.

Sprague’s Columbus-based company owns and operates 10 hotels around Central Indiana including three in the Edinburgh area: Hilton Garden Inn, Comfort Inn, Hampton Inn and Holiday Inn Express & Suites.

Nominations for the awards are submitted by community members and customers and reviewed by the Indiana Office of Tourism Development.
