Benjamin F. Hardin, 77, of Columbus, died at 3:01 a.m. Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Columbus Regional Hospital Emergency Department.

Mr. Hardin was born August 3, 1939, in North Vernon, Indiana, to James L. and Corellia Webster Hardin. He married Janie Gardner in August 1963. He later married Jo Ellen Rothrock Wright April 11, 1983. She preceded him in death August 16, 2014. He married Helen Margaret Wandling who preceded him in death July 12, 2016.

Mr. Hardin served in the Indiana Army National Guard and retired from Cummins Engine Company in 2003 after 30 years of service.

He was a member of the Columbus Moose Lodge and he enjoyed golfing.

Survivors include his sons, Kenneth (Kim) Hardin of Newburgh, Warren Hardin of Columbus, Chris (Ann) Hardin of Stoughton, Wisconsin, Scott Weddle of Columbus, Kelly Wright of Seymour, and Greg Wright of Columbus; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, Richard A. (Kay) Hardin and Todd C. (Loretta) Hardin of Columbus; sisters, Virginia Attwood of Lawton, Oklahoma, Florence J. Hall of Columbus, Alice S. Grindstaff of El Paso, Texas, and Margie A. Wade of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Hardin was preceded in death by his parents; wives, Jo Ellen and Helen; brothers, Russell R., Warren M., Guss D., James L., William A., and John T. Hardin; and sisters, Lavana B. Jackson and Barbara F. Bowles.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with the Rev. Robert E. Lay officiating.

Family and friends may call from 5 p.m. until service time Tuesday.

Private inurnment will be at Garland Brook Mausoleum.
