Deputies locate truck believed to have been at fatal accident scene

A red pickup truck believed to have been involved in an accident involving a fatality on State Road 46 east of Columbus has been located.

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies said the driver attempted to contact police himself and deputies have spoken with him.

It has been determined that the truck did not collide with either of two vehicles in the accident near the South County Road 250E intersection at about 11:38 a.m. Thursday, deputies said. The driver is cooperating with the investigation, deputies said.

Rex Money, 54, Columbus, died of a heart-related condition after the accident, said Bartholomew County Coroner Larry Fisher. Money’s vehicle collided head-on with another car on State Road 46 driven by a Brownstown woman, who was hospitalized along with one of her passengers.
