Scan your historical photos today

Indiana Album, an Indiana bicentennial project that copies catalogs and shares historic images, will have a scan-a-thon at the Bartholomew County Public Library from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. today.

Volunteers with Steps Through Time Bicentennial Celebration will register and digitize your photographs for use on the Indiana Album website and will share the scans with local archives.

The digital archive at indianaalbum.com seeks photographs, postcards, ephemera or illustrations, even interesting menus and matchbook covers, from locations throughout Indiana. Studio portraits are only copied if they are particularly interesting (unusual occupations, clothing, well-known individual). The project seeks the earliest photographs made in Indiana, including daguerreotypes and tintypes.

Bring written captions (dates, places, addresses and names) for each image. Reservations are recommended.
