North, East teams wouldn’t play each other until sectional finals

The Columbus North and Columbus East boys and girls soccer teams could meet in the sectional finals the night of Oct. 8.

This year’s boys sectional will be played at Seymour, and the girls will be at the North football stadium. Earlier this week, the IHSAA moved the games from the Richard Wigh Soccer Complex because of deteriorating conditions on the main field.

At Seymour, the North boys will open against the host school at 6 p.m. Oct. 3. Columbus East will play Scottsburg at 6 p.m. Oct. 5, followed by the North-Seymour winner against Madison at 8 p.m. The final will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 8.

The North and East girls both received first-round byes and will play in the semifinals of the North Sectional on Oct. 6. North will meet Seymour at 6 p.m., followed by East against the Scottsburg-Madison winner at 8 p.m. The final will be at 8 p.m. Oct. 8.

Also in Class 2A, the Jennings County boys will play host East Central at 5 p.m. Oct. 5. The final will be at 6 p.m. Oct. 8.

The Jennings girls will host a a Class 2A sectional and will meet Greensburg st 5:30 p.m. Oct. 6. The final will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 8.

Meanwhile, in Class A, the Hauser and Trinity Lutheran boys will play in the Jac-Cen-Del Sectional. The Jets will meet Oldenburg Academy at 5 p.m. Oct. 5, followed by Trinity facing Jac-Cen-Del at 7 p.m. The final will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 8.

Also in Class A, the Brown County boys will play host Southwestern (Shelby) at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 5. The final will be at 7 p.m. Oct. 8.

The Brown County girls will play Speedway at 7 p.m. Oct. 4 in the Indianapolis Ritter Sectional. The winner will meet the Ritter-Indianapolis Lutheran winner at 7 p.m. Oct. 6, and the final will be at 1 p.m. Oct. 8.

The Trinity Lutheran girls will play host Rising Sun at 6 p.m. Oct. 3. The winner will face Milan at 5 p.m. Oct. 5, and the final will be at 2 p.m. Oct. 8.

Girls regional action will be Oct. 12 and 15, and boys regionals will be Oct. 13 and 15. The semistate is Oct. 22, and the state finals are Oct. 29 at Carroll Stadium in Indianapolis.
