Olympians sweep Cubs

MADISON — Columbus East had little trouble Tuesday night in rolling to a 25-18, 25-12, 25-15 Hoosier Hills Conference win at Madison.

Cortney VanLiew pounded 13 kills and two blocks, and Alaysha Pollert had 14 digs and four aces to lead the Olympians (16-7, 5-1). Kendal Williams recorded 28 assists, and McKenna Chandler had two blocks.

Also for East Bailey Western added 10 kills and two aces. Rilee Jessee pounded five kills, and Brooke Banister notched 10 digs.

Panthers top Bull Dogs

BLOOMINGTON — Columbus North came close in all three sets but fell 25-22, 25-21, 25-22 at Bloomington South.

Imani Guy pounded nine kills and four blocks, and Maliah Howard-Bass had nine kills and an ace to lead the Bull Dogs (14-11). Mady Johnson recorded 22 assists, and Mackenzie Rooks notched 20 digs.

Also for North, Agustina Fainguersch tallied five kills and an ace, and Howard-Bass had a block. Johnson contributed 14 digs, while Hannah Weaver added 11 digs and Maddy Sebahar had eight digs.

“We struggled with energy and execution tonight,” North coach Caitlin Greiner said. “We need to continue to work on carrying over what we work on in practice and previous matches.”

Columbus Christian wins

Columbus Christian closed its regular season with a 25-13, 25-13, 25-18 win against Southside Christian.

Savannah Herron pounded eight kills, Sabrina Herron recorded 13 assists, Mayah Schundelmeier had two solo and one assist block, Hannah Stair and Savannah Spurgeon each notched six digs and Madison Henderson served five aces to lead the Crusaders (16-3). Sabrina Herron added seven kills and Hannah Lorimor had four aces.

Panthers win in 4

JEFFERSONVILLE — Jennings County overcame a first-set setback before rallying for a 14-25, 25-20, 25-23, 25-19 HHC win at Jeffersonville.

Carissa Kinney led the Panthers (8-17, 1-6) with 32 assists, 28 digs and two aces. Katie Schneider pounded 11 kills, while Kayla Wilson had one solo block and Emma McPeek added two assist blocks.

Sydney Brown recorded eight kills and 25 digs. Emma McPeek pounded six kills, and Hanah Bertram notched 21 digs.

Eagles shave Mohawks

NASHVILLE — Brown County rolled to a 25-13, 25-19, 25-13 win against Waldron.

Madalyn Allen led the Eagles (9-11) with 15 assists and five aces. Shea Keller pounded six kills, Elisabeth Huls had two blocks and Ryanne Smith notched eight digs.

Brown County advances

INDIANAPOLIS — Brown County opened Class A Indianapolis Ritter Sectional play with a 4-1 win against Speedway.

Elly Wertz, Katie Spires, Faith Parry and Vivien Crimmins scored goals for the Eagles (5-8-2). Leah Tucker, Jori Bruner and Laura Sheckell had assists, and Skyler Fleschman recorded 18 saves.

Brown County will play host Ritter in the semifinals at 7 p.m. Thursday.
