Violet I. Carnahan, 86, of 25th Street, died at 11:04 p.m. Tuesday, October 4, 2016, at Hickory Creek at Columbus.

The funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Barkes, Weaver & Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Tommy Asbury officiating.

Family and friends may call from 11:30 a.m. until time of service at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Garland Brook Cemetery.

Violet was born April 19, 1930, in Batesville, to William V. and Helena C. Wheelden Griese.

She married Winston K. “Wimpy” Carnahan September 20, 1947. He preceded her in death December 31, 2002.

Survivors include her daughters, Virginia Cherry of Columbus and Vera (Jesse) Stephens of Hope; half brother, Forrest Davis of Columbus; half sisters, Mary Fields and Dora Coffey, both of Columbus; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, William Carnahan; brothers, David and Gene Griese; and a half sister, Shirley Stainbrook.
