Burney
Yvonne Patricia Ann Childers, 81, of Burney, passed away at 7 a.m. Friday, October 7, 2016, at her daughter’s residence. She was born March 20, 1935, in Moline, Illinois the daughter of Harold J. and Emma E. (McConaghy) Maddock.
She graduated in 1953 from Manuel High School in Indianapolis. A former Westport resident, she retired from Muscatatuck State Hospital in North Vernon where she worked as a secretary. She was a member of Westport Christian Church and North Vernon Order of Eastern Star No. 183.
She married Carl John Childers Sr. on December 25, 1954, in Indianapolis. He preceded her in death March 18, 1997.
Survivors include her daughters, Sheryl Ann (Glen) Bush of Southport and Yvonne Elizabeth Ritchie (Kenneth Cutter) of Burney; her sons, Keith L. (Amy) Childers of Lebanon, Ohio, Carl J. (Donna) Childers Jr. of Greenwood and Joseph R. Childers of Westport; and six grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband and brothers, Ronald Maddock and Wayne R. Maddock.
Funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2016, at Bass & Gasper Funeral Home in Westport with Pastor Mike Bartlett officiating. Burial will follow at Westport Cemetery. The family will receive visitors on Monday, October 10, 2016, from 4 until 8 p.m. with an Eastern Star service at 7 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to North Vernon Order of Eastern Star No. 183 or the Lupus Foundation–Indiana Chapter.
