Betty Creech

Greensburg

Betty E. Creech, 88, of Greensburg, went to Heaven on Sunday, October 16, 2016, surrounded by her family.

Betty was born on October 22, 1927, in Batesville, the daughter of Albert and Mathilda (Hueffmeyer) Wheeldon. She was a 1946 graduate of Batesville High School. On August 31, 1948, she married Fred Creech in Carrolton, Kentucky, and he was waiting for her in Heaven.

Before Betty started her family, she worked at Batesville Casket Company. After she raised her daughter, she went on to get her degree from Indiana University to teach piano and violin lessons. She taught for 35 years and cherished every student she had. She enjoyed various types of art, crocheting, knitting, coloring, music, playing piano and violin, spending time along the Ohio River with her husband and creating memories with her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Sherry Brown; her granddaughter, Lisa (Shawn) Harden; and two great-grandchildren, Heather and Bailey Harden, all of Columbus; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Fred; and two sisters, Katherine Webster and Helen Webb.

Visitation for family and friends will be held from 11 a.m. until start of the service at 1 p.m. Friday, October 21, 2016, at Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, 1110 E. North St., Greensburg. Burial will follow at St. Paul’s United Methodist Cemetery in Sunman. Memorial contributions may be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana.
