Men Take a Stand event moved indoors

A forecast for rain and cooler conditions has moved today’s Men Take a Stand event indoors.

Weather permitting, a local effort to increase awareness about domestic violence will begin with a march from Fifth and Washington streets to Columbus City Hall, according to Turning Point Domestic Violence Services.

The schedule calls for people to gather at 11:30 a.m. and proceed three blocks south down Washington Street to the City Hall steps by 11:45 a.m., if conditions allow it.

A short program scheduled to begin at noon has been moved indoors, now taking place in the Cal Brand Meeting Room of City Hall.

The main speaker for the fifth annual event is Austin Lewis, chair of the 2016 Dance Marathon and past member of the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence Youth Council.

Participation during the past four years has ranged from 70 in the inaugural year of 2012 to 175 in 2014.
